Job Description

The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities seeks a science teacher beginning in the 2019-2020 academic year. This is a ten-month faculty position which includes multiple courses and levels of instruction. We seek an experienced, flexible, and creative teacher who can teach several of our typical course offerings in science, including chemistry, physics, and biology. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree with at least five years of teaching experience at the secondary and/or post-secondary level, and have recognized success as an educator and scholar. Interest, background, and/or experience in project-based learning would also be an ideal qualification. The candidate must have, or have the qualifications to obtain, teaching certification in South Carolina. Additionally, the candidate must have a commitment to (and record of) ongoing professional development, along with demonstrated knowledge and interpersonal skills to work with artistically talented students, other academic and arts educators, and diverse constituencies and cultures. Candidates will be expected to address how their teaching and professional experience fit with the unique mission of the school.

Located on the banks of the Reedy River in downtown Greenville, the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities is a public, residential high school serving 240 of our state’s artistically-talented students through programs of pre-professional instruction in an environment of artistic and academic excellence. The school is a resource for all teachers and students in South Carolina. The arts disciplines include Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Visual Arts, and Music.
