Job Title: Instructional Math Coach and Testing Administrator: Reports to Principal
Terms of Employment: 200 days per year Pay Grade: Certified Pay Scale FLSA Status: Exempt General
Summary: Supports teachers in the implementation of research-based instructional strategies. Works
directly with teachers to provide classroom demonstrations in rigorous standards-based teaching.
Provides instructional coaching and facilitates teacher inquiry and related professional development.
Works with administrators and teachers to align work with district priorities. Leads data sessions that
review both formative and summative assessment results and suggests and monitors intervention
strategies and materials for students. Focuses on enhancing teachers’ abilities to provide instruction
that builds student academic skills and content knowledge that is academically rigorous, addresses the curriculum standards and enhances student engagement and ownership of learning. Reports to Principal
Essential Functions: Models research-based instructional approaches and collaborates with teachers to determine approaches that best meet student needs. ● Observes teachers as they implement changes in instructional approaches and provides feedback. ● Provides ongoing professional development to teachers in school-based settings. ● Assists teachers in aligning their teaching with standards, curriculum and assessments. ● Provides assessment support to teachers through collaborative analysis of student work and formal and informal assessments. ● Assists teachers with integrating practices into their content instruction. ● Monitors student progress and offers suggestions for interventions to meet student needs. ● Facilitates inquiry groups among teachers where current research and writing on the integration of literacy and content instruction is read and discussed. ● Supports administration and leadership teams in the creation of professional development plans, with specific, measurable and attainable benchmarks for teacher and student performance. ● Participates in professional development for coaches, including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions. ● Encourages creation of innovative classroom strategies, using technology that enables teachers to transform the classroom environment from the traditional teacher-centered lecture format to an atmosphere of student-centered discovery. ● Facilitates the vetting process for school-based technology software/licenses. Coordinates all school wide testing schedules and faculty training. Responsible for security of sensitive testing materials.
Minimum Education/Work Experience: ● Current South Carolina teacher certification required ● At
least five years of teaching experience within a classroom setting is required Knowledge/Skills: •
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction at multiple grade levels. • Knowledge of professional learning
and implementation of best practice strategies. • Ability to differentiate instruction and assess student
performance. • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, including experience in leading and facilitating
committees and teams. • Excellent communication, organization, planning and interpersonal skills. •
Evidence of ability to organize and analyze data to make instructional/implementation decisions.
Instructional Coach and Testing Administrator:
Working Conditions: Duties are performed in a school and office setting with no significant exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Physical demands are restricted to work requiring occasional
lifting/moving of items up to twenty-five pounds. Responsibility: No direct budgetary responsibility.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the
School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
