General Purpose: Assist the lead teacher with planning, organizing and implementing
an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and
encourages Libertas Academy Colleton students to develop and fulfill their academic
potential.
Main Job Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
• Assist the lead teacher with planning, preparing, and delivering instructional activities
that facilitate active learning experiences with Creative Curriculum (4K), Core
Knowledge, and Core Virtues Curriculum
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
• Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
• Administer school-wide assessments and use data to inform instruction
• Identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying
needs
• Use relevant educational and/or assistive technology to support instruction
• Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
• Grade classwork, tests, and assignments and provide appropriate feedback
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
• Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district
policies, and school regulations
• Prepare required reports as requested by the school administration
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and
procedures
• Maintain discipline following the directions and disciplinary systems of the school
• Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings, and professional
development
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents
regarding student progress and student needs
• Keep updated with developments in the subject area, teaching resources, and
methods and make
relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
• Adhere to LAC school policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned
Job Skills & Requirements:
• Must possess a high school diploma
• Two years of documented experience working with children is preferred
• An Associate’s degree or Bachelor's degree in childhood, elementary education,
literacy, or a related field is preferred
• South Carolina State Certification preferred
For 4K Instructional Assistants: Must complete the Early Childhood Development
Credential (ECD 101) course
