5th Grade Teacher Position

Position Purpose
To help LLCS elementary students learn SC State Standards, with a classroom focus on developing student leaders through project-based experiences.

Position Responsibilities
● Plans a program of study, with a whole-child approach, that strives to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of students
● Familiarity with Math and Science SC State Standards for upper elementary grade levels
● Nurtures a classroom environment that is respectful and conducive to learning
● Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, project based experiences
● Employs instructional strategies and tools that are most appropriate for teaching SC State Standards
● Frequently and consistently assesses student progress and mastery of SC State Standards
● Utilize instructional technology in a way that supports student learning
● Conferences with school-level colleagues, students and/or parents on a regular basis
● Partners with school administration in implementing all policies outlined in the LLCS Parent/Guardian and Student Handbook
● Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for instructional assistant(s), if applicable 
● Maintains professionalism with colleagues, students, and families
● Attends faculty meetings, team meetings and serves on staff committees as required

Education Requirements
● Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related educational field
● SC Teacher Certification
○ If not currently certified in SC, employees must commit to obtaining certification or enrolling in SCDE
approved alternative certification program within one calendar year from the date of hire.
