The Visual and Media Arts Instructor develops an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms using skills and techniques of artistic expression, to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciation, and to discover and develop the talents of students in the field of the visual arts. The Visual and Media Arts Instructor must possess a repertoire of instructional skills to create an atmosphere that inspires learning and target instruction to support students in progressing toward key learning outcomes. Responsibilities include creating a flexible classroom that promotes learning and personal growth; motivating students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge as well as developing understandings; and collaborating with learning support teachers and other specialists to plan integrated units and activities, discuss student learning, analyze and moderate student work, and to promote the educational needs of students. The Visual and Media Arts Instructor boosts creative thinking, imparts artistic skills to students, and makes them aware of the social, cultural, political, and economic factors that influenced art in different historical periods.
