Minimum Qualifications:
SC certification in MD, EMD, TMD or Multi-Categorical, or severe required with a strong GPA in relevant course work
Experience with teaching special education students in a self-contained setting preferred
Enthusiasm for teaching students with moderate disabilities including intellectual disabilities and autism
Ability to fulfill the dexterity and physical requirements of the work, and effectively attend to the special needs of exceptional children
Exceptional knowledge of the needs of special education elementary level students
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional strategies and student evaluation techniques
Skill in interpersonal relations with pupils, parents, teachers, staff and the general public
Outstanding references from current and former supervisors
Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report
