The mission of the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina is to strengthen public education for South Carolina students by supporting and advocating for high quality public charter schools.  

We are a nonprofit 501c3 organization with membership open to public charters schools and public charter school supporters including families, community leaders, and business leaders. Since our inception in 2001, a dedicated group of staff members, volunteers, and member schools have worked for significant legislative change to benefit South Carolina's charter public schools and to develop resources and supports for South Carolina's charter schools.

Opportunity: Part Time High School Percussion Band Assistant (Temporary Position, no benefits, 12pm to 1:30 each day with some practice sessions afterschool and events) Start date: August 19, 2019 (First Day of School August 21) About Charleston Charter School for Math and Science: Charleston Charter School for Math and Science (CCSMS) provides a STEM focused education in a culturally diverse and experiential learning environment. CCSMS is a public charter school educating 560 scholars in grades 6 to 12. We believe every child can reach their potential with the support of compassionate adults, so we’ve created a school to nurture and engage different types of learners and thinkers. Our community offers small class sizes and pioneering instructional approaches to shape innovators and forward-thinking leaders. Charleston Charter School for Math and Science is closing opportunity and achievement gaps and we are committed to preparing our students for 21st century careers. Overview of Position: Opportunity to be help grow our band program and support our percussion scholars involved in band and our drum line. This temporary, part-time position is from 12pm to 1:30 each school day for one section of band. There may be some afterschool practices and evening events. This current opening is for first Semester ending December 20, 2019. Opportunity to continue 2 nd semester is possible. Education, Experience, and Skills:  Experience with high school or college bands and motivating and directing teenagers and collaborating with peers.  A four-year degree or master’s degree preferred, but not required.  A SC teaching certificate is not required.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out the functions of the position and provide a safe learning environment.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
