Williston School District 29 Position Announcement   Position Title:     HS ArtTeacher Department:      Instruction Reports To:        Principal FLSA Status:     Exempt Salary:             Contingent upon degree and years of experience   GENERAL SUMMARY  Under general supervision assists students in learning subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible adults.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Secondary Art Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks: Complete all grading, create progress reports and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner; Support the instructional program by teaching current content standards; Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding (working directly with students and parents); Communicate with parents, students and other teachers on a regular basis, score assessments, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor completion of assignments and coach special projects; Work collaboratively with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program, that parents have a central point of contact; Develop a general knowledge of the entire art curriculum and a very detailed knowledge of the courses for which responsible; Support students and parents with alternate strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects; Communicate regularly with parents, students, and Principal through use of computer and telephone; Keep student records and data up-to-date, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance, and logging all student and parent contacts; Work with other teachers to coordinate social activities and relevant field trips for students; Manage regional field trips and make efforts to integrate trips into the curriculum; Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”; Participate in the organization and administration of the State Testing, as directed; Other duties as assigned.   JOB SPECIFICATIONS   Education and Experience:  Education and experience as required by state certification authorities. Certified in Art- Teaching credential preferred. Highly qualified and certified to teach Secondary Art in South Carolina Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs) Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Customer focused approach High degree of flexibility Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment Team player track record Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel) Ability to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families Knowledge:  Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school District which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.  Knowledge in the methods for developing lesson plans and materials, and classroom activities which stimulate learning.  Knowledge of the records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained.  Knowledge of proper maintenance of equipment, materials and supplies used in daily activities. Williston School District 29 Position Announcement Position Title:     Special Education Teacher Department:       Special Services/Instruction Reports To:        Principal FLSA Status:     Exempt Salary:             Contingent upon degree and years of experience   GENERAL SUMMARY   Under general supervision assists special education students in learning subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  Cooperates in developing a program of continuous progress consistent with District goals and objectives to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of special education students.  Keeps abreast of changes and District policies and students' needs and interests.  Establishes clear and appropriate objectives for all classroom activities and communicates these objectives to students.  Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.  Designs and implements highly structured activities to meet the Individual Education Plans (IEPs) of each student.  Continuously monitors students’ completion of tasks throughout the day with adjustments made to the activity sequence as necessary.  Physically prompts students as needed to complete tasks.  Physically restrains students (minimum of 100 lbs. to approximately 225 lbs. students) whose behavior is a threat to themselves or others using Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) techniques.  Maintains all records and IEPS so that all information is current, neatly ordered, and updated in a timely and efficient manner.   Uses the District computer IEP system correctly and efficiently to maintain IEPs.  Plans and directly supervises the work of assigned teaching assistants.  Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
