                                                 McCormick County School District Position Description POSITION TITLE : ARMY JROTC INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS: Only personnel qualified by US Army Cadet Command (USACC) are eligible for employment as instructors. Report to : Principal Non-Exempt JOB GOAL : To instill in students the values of citizenship, service to the community and the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. Incorporate 21st Century learning, support school-wide expectations for learning, promote healthy lifestyles, develop leadership, strengthen positive self-motivation and enhance global awareness to include providing a historical perspective of military service. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES : The AI will manage in coordination with the SAI the standard operating procedures relating to the administration, control, and training of JROTC Cadets. Procedures include the appointment, promotion, and demotion of Cadet Officers and noncommissioned officers. In addition: 1. Manage the JROTC unit according to school rules, regulations, and policies. 2. Advise school authorities on policy and regulation changes within CCR 145-2. 3. Maintain good relations with school authorities, faculty, and the student body. 4. Conduct a public affairs effort in the local area, middle and elementary schools, among school and community officials, civic groups, parent-teacher groups and other individuals or groups, designed to further the understanding of JROTC, the school and the Army. 5. Enroll students in JROTC and support school officials while executing the curriculum and the integrated extra-curricular activities. 6. Manage the published Master Training Schedule.  7. Maintain contact with parents of assigned Cadets experiencing academic or behavioral problems. 8. Ensure JROTC unit areas are neat and orderly; current chain of command photos, Cadet Creed, core abilities and mission statement are present; and secure all sensitive items. 9. Share responsibilities for teaching the JROTC curriculum IAW Training Schedule. 10. Maintain a current copy of DA Form 3126 and/or DA Form 3126-1, a completed service learning checklist/rubric, a current copy of a bond/insurance certificate, and manage required JUMS reports. 11. Manage accountability of equipment, in coordination with the SAI/Primary Hand Receipt Holder, in accordance with AR710-2, including items requiring formal accountability (i.e., air rifles), informal accountability (i.e., clothing) and durable items costing $5,000 or less (i.e., automation, computers, audiovisual), but still requiring property accountability. 12. In addition to classroom instruction, a number of activities will require JROTC Instructors to work outside of the regular school hours. An Instructor‘s work week could easily exceed 50 hours and may include additional weekend activities. a) Raider Challenge b) JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC) c) JROT2955C Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB) d) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) e) Drill and Rifle Competitions f) Physical Training g) Holiday Parades and Ceremonies (Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, etc.) h) Color Guard Detail (Home Football Games, Parades, Ceremonies, etc.) 13. Just as any other teacher, JROTC Instructors are required to perform additional duties as required by the school. Additional duties may include hall monitor, chaperone, event security, test proctor, cafeteria duty, Substitute Teach other classes, etc. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 10 Months. An additional 10 days are reported to 4th Brigade, USACC through the Superintendent of Schools on a memorandum with the exact dates of summer training events and logistical requirements. EVALUATION : Be prepared for scheduled and unscheduled classroom evaluations throughout the school year in accordance with school policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, create and implement comprehensive language arts and social studies curricula based on current national and state education standards Bring a data-driven approach to student and curriculum assessment and decision-making, with particular expertise and experience with the MAP and benchmark assessment systems and the state standardized test Believe in and have familiarity with differentiated instruction and the ability to advise and mentor teachers in its integration into teaching practice Oversee the language arts enrichment programs, developing and revising criteria for placement in these programs with the faculty members involved Develop professional development materials and trainings for teachers Identify outside professional development opportunities based on teacher need and interest Present information at grade-level meetings with teachers in grades K-6 regarding new initiatives Identify appropriate materials (field trips, speakers, print and media sources) to support curriculum Track student progress in reading, writing and spelling for grades K-6 and use data to inform decisions about curriculum and materials Collaborate with Math and Science Coordinator, technology team, library media specialists and Educational Support Services department to ensure continuity of content and delivery of 21st century skills for grades K-6 Mentor new and veteran teachers and provide ongoing in-classroom support to improve instructional practice and assessment Establish and maintain positive working relationships with parents, teachers, administrators and students Collaborate with McCormick School District administrative team to oversee whole school events and decision Evaluate teachers Partner with members of Department Chairs to develop consistency of curricular offerings K-12 and smooth transitions of students Other duties as assigned  QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Language Arts (Reading, Writing, and Spelling) and Social Studies instruction and curriculum, with particular familiarity with the Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop philosophy, methodology and approach and understanding of the application of South Carolina Standards in an independent school setting. The successful candidate will be a progressive educator, be highly organized, have the ability to multi-task, and have strong collaboration and communication skills in order to function as a member of a variety of teams and with the various stakeholder groups of our school.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: He or she will have a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in both classroom instruction and school administration, including responsibilities in curriculum oversight, supervision and evaluation of faculty, and parent partnerships. South Carolina Teacher's Certification.   A minimum of a Master’s degree in Education or a field related to the position is required. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to present effectively information to staff, teachers, administrators, public groups/community, and Board of Trustees. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, procedure manuals and business correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents, regulatory/state agencies or members of the business community.  REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.                                                                McCormick County School District                                                                                Job Description   POSITION TITLE :  Computer Science Teacher   SUMMARY:    The teacher will instruct students in the language and skills in Computer Science at the AP level with a focus on engineering and computing. The teacher may need additional professional development in the curriculum and will be supported for the training. The teacher will report to the Principal.  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : Bachelors and/or Master’s Degree Preferred  Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaches concepts and skills in the use of specifically chosen software, computer language in Python and Java and other computer languages that may be a part of the curriculum. Strives to implement by instruction and action the Institute’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and Instructional media and conducts subject area research to support and enhance course content. Prepares lesson plans for daily classroom activities; organizes classroom for daily instruction.  Provides limited lectures, demonstrates and uses audiovisual teaching aids to present subject matter to class. Supervises students in classroom situation.   KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school district which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge in the methods for developing lesson plans and materials, and classroom activities which stimulate learning. Knowledge of the records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained. Knowledge of proper maintenance of equipment, materials and supplies used in daily activities.
