GENERAL SUMMARY Under regular supervision, is responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function and exercise; that motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness, and appropriate social and emotional adjustment; that discovers and develop talents of students in physical achievement; and that develops strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each student’s ability. Minimum Qualifications: SC certification in Physical Education with a strong GPA in relevant course work Certification as an athletic trainer from the National Athletic Trainer Association Outstanding verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional and student evaluation techniques Experience working with appropriate level students preferred Knowledge of instructional technology and the ability to integrate it into the curriculum Willingness to work with other teachers to promote interdisciplinary studies Skill in interpersonal relations with pupils, parents, teachers, staff and the general public Outstanding references from current and former supervisors Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report
