Duties: Implement and refine district approved curriculum to meet the evolving educational needs of students. Systematically gather, analyze, and use data to measure student progress, guide instruction, and provide timely feedback. Uses technology effectively to enhance student learning and to manage the classroom. Maintain a safe, student-centered learning environment that is engaging and respectful. Manage a classroom with clear, consistent expectations for student behavior with an aim to create a calm, safe, orderly learning community. Develop and implement Individual Education Plans consistent with compliance requirements. Complete additional special education actions and attend meetings as applicable as part of a student's educational team. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's Degree and a South Carolina Teacher License in Visual Impairment. Must have the ability plan and implement IEP's and carry out programs to meet student needs. Must have knowledge in pre-braille teaching strategies, literacy braille and Nemeth Code. Must have proficient typing skills and be computer proficient. Must be familiar with basic O & M techniques, as well as basic assistive technology devices and programs. Must also have the ability to teach and provide assessment in the Expanded Core Curriculum. Must have the ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators and parents.
